Day 2: Music I listened to in the 90s because I never really listened to pop

As a young Rebecca. I never really got into the whole pop music thing. Most of the music I listened to growing up was grunge or some form of rock. I really didn't start listening to music I liked until the late 1990s...1999 when I was 8 so about...4th grade...I think. I'm trying to stay in the spectrum given but I don't remember anything past the 7th grade really. Anyways...I met a girl named Ali and she let me listen to her CD player (yes, remember those?) and there was a Nirvana CD in it from her older brother. I really liked it so I started borrowing CDs from her. She got me into Smashing Pumpkins, Metallica (which I still really like actually), Pixies and other grungesk bands. Then she got me to listen to a lot older music like the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Beatles (which my parents also heavily influenced), Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Bob Marley and so on. My parents also approved of all the older rockers because that is what they listened to as teens/young adults.

I really liked and STILL like Nirvana a lot. I think one song that comes to mind is "Come As You Are."
I really liked that as a kid. I'm not sure why. I wasn't in particular depressed or had angst against the world...yet. However, even though some people think grunge music lead to a not so good life. I think I turned out pretty well. Don't get me wrong, I did fall hard in high school but that wasn't just because of the music. There were a lot of outside factors. I feel that young people are very impressionable and sometimes by accident or abuse blame their misbehavior on music. People just need to calm down! <-I can't think of a nicer or more sophisticated way of expressing my anger towards people sometimes...its hard to explain...we can talk in person if you want more details lol. Plus, something about Kurt's long, blonde, messy hair I found very attractive as a kid/preteen/teen. Yes, I was a weird child but guess what?! I'm still weird and his baby blues still get me lol.

Picture of the Day!

So this is FO SHO the widest my
eyes have ever been lol.

Verse of the Day :D
Proverbs 18:24 (NLT)
" There are "friends" who destroy each other,
but a real friend sticks closer than a brother."

Pro que???
Friends are super important to me and believe me. I've had many friends who I swear had their life mission to destroy me. I've had my run in with bad influences but that is another story. Anyways... I really like this because it's not easy for me to open up but I really find that I can open up to my clothes friends or brothers and sisters in Christ a lot more than my blood sisters and brother. There are just different bonds between the two and sometimes siblings aren't the best of influences...believe me on that too. I'm not sure why exactly I find this interesting but I think that is another reason why lol. It gets you thinking about what is the real definition of a friend.

BONUS QUESTION!
What is a friend to you?
